Stainless Steel Shafts and Solid Bars

What Is a Stainless Steel Shaft?
Stainless steel shafts are hard steel components used in many areas of everyday life. They are produced by machining or forming stainless steel bar stock and offer high resistance to rust. Stainless steel shafts are produced in austenitic, ferritic, and martensitic grades. They have a wide range of applications and are most commonly used in marine engines, the defense industry, and the paint and food-processing industries, among other working environments.
Stainless steel shafts are produced in long lengths and various profiles by rolling or extrusion. The most common forms are solid round bar, solid square bar, and solid hexagonal bar.
Solid Round Bar
Solid round bars are circular in cross section. They are solid bars supplied in long lengths and can be made from carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, case-hardening steel, or aluminum. Solid round bars can be cut to size according to customer requirements.
Typical applications for solid round bar include the following:
- Providing structural support for tanks, equipment, and machinery.
- Building supports for enclosures and cabinets.
- Supplying shafts and bars for motor axles.
- Motor and engine manufacturing.
- Equipment and fixtures for the food and beverage industry.
- Frames, angles, and structural components.
- Supports, frames, brackets, and other components.
Solid Square Bar
Solid square bars have a square or rectangular cross section. They are solid bars supplied in long lengths and are produced by manufacturers in a variety of sizes. Solid square bar is typically required for the production of axles, pins, and shafts.
Solid Hexagonal Bar
Solid hexagonal bars are produced at stainless steel mills in long lengths and various sizes by rolling and extrusion. Hexagonal bar is primarily used to make special components such as nuts, hex bolts, and hex plugs. All of these components are widely used in many industries around the world.
