Properties of Stainless Steel Pipe

Commercially, stainless pipe is manufactured as follows. These highly useful pipes fall into two main categories: welded and seamless. Welded pipe is produced and offered to users in two forms, HF-welded and TIG-welded. Welded pipe is used mainly for decorative purposes, while seamless pipe is used in high-pressure processes.
Welded and Seamless Stainless Pipe
Exceptionally strong in construction, stainless steel pipe is itself divided into welded and seamless types. Produced to a high standard in both welded and seamless forms, this product is preferred over its competitors for its quality.
How Is Stainless Pipe Produced and Supplied?
Stainless pipe, one of the many products made from stainless steel, comes with a range of properties. The main factors behind these different properties are the production method and the intended application. Stainless pipe may be produced as a single piece or through a series of processing steps. In terms of production method there are two distinct products, which, as noted above, are welded and seamless. You can read about each in detail below.
Seamless Stainless Pipe
Seamless pipe, also known as drawn stainless steel pipe, is produced as a single piece. Also called drawn pipe, this product is extremely durable, which is why it is used so frequently in heavy industry. Easily meeting expectations wherever it is used thanks to its durability, seamless stainless pipe is also supplied to suit the requirements of different metal types.
Welded Stainless Pipe
Also known as welded pipe, this product is less strong than its seamless counterpart because of its welded seam. It is first produced as a flat strip and then formed into a pipe shape, with welding used to close the seam.
Welded pipe varies in strength according to the material used in its production, and the main reason for these differences is whether or not TIG welding is used. TIG-welded products offer greater strength. On this basis, seamless products can be said to offer a level of strength beyond that of welded pipe.
While TIG welding produces a stronger joint, it also lengthens the process. This is because the weld is affected by gases in the atmosphere, such as nitrogen. The process also has a significant environmental impact, so the gases present in the working environment are extracted using various methods and the necessary steps are taken. Pipe produced in this way falls into the mid-range strength category.
