Stainless Steel Profiles: Technical Information and Properties

A stainless steel profile is a structural product made from steel that we encounter almost everywhere in daily life. Steel profiles come in a wide range of shapes and applications and are identified by different codes. In general terminology, the profiles used in steel construction are designated as follows.
H-section profiles are called HEA and HEB, I-section profiles IPE, U-section profiles UPN, and hollow sections CFCHS, CFRHS and so on.
Steel profiles are manufactured to quality standards and are named according to those standards. The steel profile grades most commonly used in Turkey, as in Europe, are S235 and S275. A stainless steel profile is produced in various shapes, and these are named after the letters they resemble: C profile, Sigma profile, U profile and Z profile. These widely used profile types are notable for the ease with which they can be fitted together and taken apart.
Technical Information About Stainless Steel
The chromium contained in stainless steel forms a thin protective layer on the surface of the profile. This layer is far too thin to be seen with the naked eye. The layer created by the chromium cuts the stainless steel off from contact with the air, allowing it to withstand any adverse conditions that arise.
